Marc Prensky will explain why, in the 21st c. the most important weapon you can use to change your country and the world is no longer “education” but empowerment.
Although “education” — a very important and much-needed artifact of the 20th c. —will continue, it needs to be supplemented, for the 21st c., by an empowerment system. The two systems must be separate-but-equal, serving different kids and parents. The old system will not morph into the new.
Empowerment comes not just through the rapid spread of new technology, but far more importantly empowerment comes from new beliefs about what people can now do — at all stages of life — that they couldn’t do before — especially connect and have positive impact no matter where they live. Recent societal changes caused by COVID-19 are “new belief accelerators.” Belief change can even precede, and accelerate, technology arrival. A new, side-by-side system for empowerment is beginning to arise. You can be a pioneer in creating this new future our kids truly need!
